Kaiku Levinah, is a “humble and God-fearing” young lady who attended Kiira Primary school and Jinja secondary (High) school where she received her four-year certificate but because of financial problems, she was unable to complete S5 and S6 to get her high school diploma. Instead, in 2017 she attended the new Adult Education Center in Njeru where she began her pursuit of a trade certificate but found it to be quite a challenge.

She came to the Hackers For Charity Computer Training Center in Jinja Uganda and offered her services as a volunteer intern for ten weeks. When Levinah come to HFC for her internship, she had low self-esteem and she was very shy and had little understanding of basic computer usage.

Her internship “changed [her] life”. She was able to learn new skills including Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver and more. She returned to her trade school for a skill review and it was discovered that she had more knowledge and skills more than the teachers and was able to begin instructing them as well as her fellow students!

Levinah now is one the leading students that the school counts on for consultation, all because of her HFC internship! Now, she is not only a student but also a confident leader, rejoicing in her newfound self-esteem and “so thankful to the CTC center, staff and donors!”
